The most realigious experience I have ever had. I'm definitely converted. I think I just stood still with my mouth wide open for minutes when she came out with that fantastic outfit. She just blew me away. I've been to a lot of concerts and Bjork is the best performer out there. I almost cried when she sang Joga and Pagan Poetry. Bjork takes us on a journey. She can make us dance our asses off and bring us to the brink of tears the next, only to comfort us the next minute. It's incredible. No words can ever do the performance justice.

The last time I had the chance to see Björk was 2003 so obviously I was excited to hear she would be at Coachella this year. When she took the stage I was blown away. The setlist was perfect and everything flowed together so nicely. What this performance did for me was prove that Björk is back! she is showing no signs of decline in her career with Volta and this new tour.

coachella is an experience. björk is amazing.
thus, words cannot explain the euphoria.

I can never really describe my experience in words........it's so teribbly intimate but let me say that it was absolutely fantabulous! Mark Bell is back and in full affect! She played a lot of her old stuff with a totally new twist, infused with all kinds of goodness......Declare Independence was freak'in great.........yet again I thank her for the experience.

/revivingrosie - 2738
It is almost too amazing to put to words the mood that Bjork can create. Last 2 time I saw her in 2003 both in SF and LA were incredible (read review 2003). This Coachella performance is just pure amazement and joy. The wait since 2003 was long but well worth it. I'm a complete concert goer and I have to say no bands have ever bring so much joy to me at any concert I've been, but Bjork is something else. The energy she gives to her performance is amazing. I love her new songs from the upcoming Volta CD. Pluto was awesome and I was very blessed to her Army of Me. It took me by complete suprise she did that one. I like Vokuro, but I think this version of it didn't work. It was kinda coarse....Vokuro is best sang in choir style. But I have to say Declare Independence kinda stole the show. It was completely insane. I'm so excited that I'll be seeing her in Shoreline @ Mountainview. After seeing her setlist from New York, I'm so stunned to see she had incorperated some Debut songs like Venus As A Boy. I'll die to here that from her. Most of her setlist in Coachella weighed heavily on Homogenic and though I love those songs, I want her setlist to be more random, think that'll be more fun. Please Bjork, include some B-side to your upcoming concert as well. We all love you so much. Should we all post our ideal setlist and share it with all Bjork fans here and hopefully Bjork can look at it too? Don't you think that'll be fun?

/homogenic97 - 2715
I waited from 2pm on and saw every single band on the main stage to get a good spot for Björk. It was my 7th Coachella (Almost the best too, but 2004 was so Excellent!) and my 3rd time see Björk. It´s funny but all the bands before her, even the ones I loved, seemed to go on forever and when Björk finally came on it was gone in a flash! She is truly like a shooting star, blink and it is gone! I loved the new sound on the Homogenic songs but still a little unsure on the Medulla tracks. Awesome light show and during Pluto I thought I was in the center of a hurricane! I got tickets for her Red Rocks show in Denver so I´m excited to get to see her again in such a short period of time. Here is hoping for Where is the line!!!

/mercuryrevboces - 2714
Sounds like it was an unreal night, unfortunately i live in Australia, so i've never seen bjork live but have alot of live dvd's of hers. when i listen to them they make me feel like i can do anything they take me to a place where it feels like i'm the only one in the world at the same time emotional. Wish Bjork would come to Melbourne Australia. But as soon as i'm rich i will travel to see her.

/bradam - 2712
Bjork was incredible. This may have been the pinnacle of her career. Her voice pulsated and vibrated through the swarms of people and all were intensely hypnotized by the power of her voice soaring out over the crowd.
I was profoundly moved by her sensitive lyrics and the overwhelming strength of her vocals. Honestly this has to be the best performance I have ever seen. My favorite band is Depeche Mode so that is a big deal for me to say, but it is true, Bjork took the cake at Coachella and I honestly don't think anyone will be able to surpass her talent for a long time.

Bjork, if you ever read this, Thank you for your stellar performance. I feel blessed to have been able to be with you in desert that night. You were so incredible that you moved me to tears more than once. Listening to you is a spiritual experience.
Much Love,

Lily M.

/misslily718 - 2696
It was a long and hot day in the desert...but from the moment we bought our Bjork t-shirts when we walked into the festival, there was not much else on our minds than finishing the night with one of our most cherished musical performers.

The crowd wasn't too crammed until we got about half way up, so there were only about 20.000 people in front of us, but by the time the intro finished and Earth Intruders began the surge forward got us at least ten feet closer! We were all jumping trying to get a fix on what it was that she was wearing...she looked like a beautiful sea creature dancing in the dark waters of the desert. A jelly fish alive with color...the crowd was basking in the joy of the music and the songstress!

With each song that she performed completely reworked using the brass choir, it was like opening gift after gift at your favorite birthday party as a child. People were beaming all around us singing along and hanging on every word that she sang. Thankfully, there weren't a lot of chatterers around us so we were able to hear really well!

The night just built and built with the energy just zooming around the entire desert floor! I truly thought I was going to explode during Pluto...and then we she knocked us out with "Independence" I never felt so liberated and compelled to do something positive in my world than I did at that moment!

Thank you, Bjork! Seeing you is like going to church for me...and I don't do that, EVER! Keep feeding me mind, body and spirit! You are an absolute musical treasure!

Peace.

Beautifulness! I saw the streaming, but even so it was GREAT. Really unforgettable to me... imagine how perfect it was there.

/rafa-kiddo - 2671
Words can't describe how truely amazing the show was. This is the fourth time I've traveled to the West Coast (from Dallas) to see her live and this was the best. The new arrangements with brass are stunning, Joga and Army of Me simply breath taking. I can't wait until Sasquatch at the end of May to see her again.

Come back to the states soon! Maybe in the fall or winter?

omGZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzz bjork and friends were INcredible!!!

When I thinkof Björk I am reminded of Mozart. (She is Technozart?) He saw patterns and connections in music that others did not. She has shown this again at Coachella with her new material and reworking of some of her past material to carry the overall mood and tone for the concert.

As she has grown musically, her lyrics and music have evolved into something to experience rather than merely listen. Her show at Coachella was an abstract art to have wash over you, take in, and feel.

Vocally, she hit and held the high notes, which really drove the crowd wild.

She spent quite a bit of the concert dancing about the stage and performing for everyone.

One thing I wish could be different: if she could act while performing.
When she did Dancer in the Dark it was painful and difficult for her to act because she was essentially method acting and felling what the character was feeling. I don't wish her to feel pain, so I guess this is an impossible thought, but I wish she could bring out the feelings behind her songs. I feel like that one thing was missing: the emotions or passions or feelings behind her most personal of songs lyrics. I saw them once for a song at a Homogenic tour in Vienna, Austria. They really added a significant amount to the music, lyrics and their performance. Again, I would rather miss out if it does cause pain or trouble.

Coachella was the best one yet (I've missed the debut, vespertine and medulla tours, but this was the 6th concert). However, I wish it were possible to fully experience Miss Mozart's in all forms of her brilliance.

/MsMorrisine - 2663
I've seen the concert through youtube (how great technology is).. i also read the critics about her new work -VOLTA-... bah... it usually takes me a lot of time to get to grasp musically every one of Bjork albums. the percussion from the new songs seems full of life to me (maybe 'cus im from south america)... i love all her work, i cant be objective... ever since i saw BJORK live in Chile back in 1998, my perspective about whats is to make music and make a show changed for ever.

Times are changing faster and faster and lot of people like me needs an artist like Bjork to put a soundtrack to our lives... i believe art and faith are the two connected ways to take everything to a higher level. to me Bjork always does, despite the details as music, drums, brass or harp, voice, lyrics or whatever, she probably have some high motivation attached to the art she does. living itself is an art and im thankful she can find her way to show us how she managed to go through it all.

I've heard she's coming to south america once again... and i hope i can get to see her live here or anywhere in the world where i could drop my anchor... i live by the ocean.

Thanks.

björk's singing was in top form! it's cute how she forgets lyrics sometimes! the new songs are absolutely phenomenal.

When I found out that Bjork was playing at Coachella I knew that I couldn't miss the opportunity to go. (When I first heard Bjork's voice in the Sugarcubes I was a fan instantly). My fiance and I both loved her performance on Friday. It was my first time seeing her live. And it was just amazing. I was screaming like crazy. Her voice sounded awesome and the beats were so energizing and powerful and made me jump around and just feel the music. (with the little room I had lol). And being there with all the other fans, I felt a sort of kinship. It was such a memorable night. We hope to see her in concert again. I am so glad we went. Thank you Bjork.

/amandym - 2658
this performance was so incredibly futuristic but somehow stayed grounded in nature....I felt completely connected to the surroundings of the desert and mountains while at the same time feeling as if I had time traveled to a place of science fiction-like modernness and at the same time felt totally empowered and revolutionary with "declare independence".....dance party 2007!!!!

/yeeknauwshamon - 2656
Bjork was in great spirits, her voice was strong and rich, the new arrangements were outstanding, the setlist was a dream, and it was just so damned intense and stunningly powerful. There was one point of Hyperballad where everything seemed to be out of sync, but they pulled it together and finished with an intense Pluto.
Overall, this was a superb Bjork performance, and bodes very well for the upcoming shows.

/danlynch - 2655
Overwhelmed with sure joy and awe!! Is the only way to describe the tremendous jolt of excitement upon seeing my idol!! I cried hysterically through the first 4 songs and could hardly control my composure as I saw Bjork dancing fanatically across the stage! I love to see her dancing around with such freedom and happiness! And the music was mind blowing. The pulsing of the beats and that voice, THAT VOICE! It felt like a mental orgasm!! And I get to see her again in San Fran!! I can't wait!! THANKS AGAIN BJORK FOR A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE!!

/schaves55 - 2654
Greetings to all the readers,
There isn't anything I can add to describe the sheer beauty of my Bjork Coachella experience. The event was trully amazing. My friends and I stood in front of the main stage 4 hours waiting for bjorks performance. It was a very uncomfortable wait that we endured. Litlle by little we made our way forward to aproach the main stage. We were very close to the front only about a dozen rows of fans were in front of us. We were nervous, jittery, and ecstatic. When we noticed that Bjorks stage was being set up we were delirious with joy as we new Bjork would grace the stage in a matter of moments. Just before Bjork hopped across the stage I noticed her in a darken area in the backside of the stage, at first I wasn't sure if it was her as the figure I was observing looked more like a stage prop or decoration but i noticed the figure moving and then I thought "Oh My God!" That's her. Suddenly the music for Earth Intruders blasted through the powerfull speakers and the figure, Bjork, wabled acroos the stage shaking of her magic and delivering a performance of pure art.

moi.

This performance was nothing short of a life changing experience!! Bjork is amazing!! I was completely mezmerized. My husband didn't know too much about Bjork before, but now, a die hard Bjork fan!!

Thank you so much Bjork.

Great set! I am looking forward to seeing you in a few weeks at the Shoreline Amphitheatre. I hope to declare independence every day until then!

/sandler77 - 2651
Ok, so I wasn't ACTUALLY there but I watched the live stream. What can I say that hasn't already been said? It was awesome, like I knew it would be. I was particularly fond of the fact that Bjork did her old classics moreso than her new songs (although the new songs were thoroughly enjoyed by me and I'm sure by everyone else who watched it). One thing I didn't really like was that some of the old songs had been recomposed. They were really good, don't get me wrong but I'm sure I speak for everyone that they wanted to hear Hyperballad in its original form. I liked how she was really into the music. This was noticeable particularly on Pagan Poetry and Unravel.

I really cannot wait until I see her at Red Rocks this May!!! It's going to be a real treat, and judging by this performance alone I know it will be awesome!!!!!

/bjork_is_awexome - 2650
bjork made my night. i flew all the way from new york to see b at coachella. exceded any and all expectations. was such a special performance. certainly the best of the 4 times i've seen her.

"oceania" was amazing with brass. "hyperballed/pluto remix" took over my body and i didn't stop dancing from that point on. i wore my silver hooded cape in her honor, and it went flying in the mist of the laser show and beat exposions. but it truly was "declare independance" that stole the show. i was screaming obscene things at the top of my lungs because the song was blowing my mind the longer it went on!! what a perfect ending to a perfect show. the only other request i could have dreamed of was "who is it?" which would have fit better than "pleasure is mine". opinions. opinions.

the entire drive home to my friends place in l.a. the 4 of us kept uttering quiet "wows" under our breath and we all new exactly what they were thinking about. bjork.

thank you so much for the most fun i've had dancing at a live show in my life bjork!!

Bjork was so lovely and full of energy. She seemed to be playing all her greatest hits. The setlist was drew heavily from Homogenic, but Medulla and Volta were well-represented as well. It was an incredibly well-balanced show that played well to the Coachella crowd. I particularly loved the new renditions (with instruments!) of the Medulla songs. She even played my two favorite songs ever, "Pagan Poetry" and "Unravel". She sang both with such passion and emotional honesty that the crowd seemed silently entranced. What was amazing for me was how the audience came to a complete hush during the "I love him..." section of Pagan Poetry. Just devastating! Thank you, Bjork, for another wonderful live performance.

this was a great set list in this sort of outdoor setting, as me and my buds stomped the grass and jumped in the air with our fists hitting the clear night sky. it was a shame that the entire massive field didn't react in unision, but i'm happy quite a bunch did! (the inner crowd up front certainly had a blast!)

and the soundmixing was excellent! everyone sounded bright, clear and LOUD!
it was a lovely night, thank you bjork and company for making this such a splendid memory.

declare independence sealed the night perfectly! *raises flag*

I was there front row it was the best concert I'd ever been to! I would describe Bjork as a musical humming bird she moved around so much it was hard to get a clear photo. Even though I'd been awake at that point since early morning the adrenaline of the music invigorated me. I have to say I loved all of the songs, she left and came back with the last surprise song 'Declare Independence', was my favorite.

Well me and my boyfriend waiited 4 11 HOURS 2 see BJORK the crow was amazing, her new versions of each song was EXPECTACULAR, thanks Bjork 4 this great experience.
Christian and Gabriel.

/chriss23 - 2642
Hmmm. Where to start?
It was definitely a bjork show.
I am not going to compare it to the 2002 performance... they were worlds apart... so on with it.
The great things about this peformance... The horn section - completely mind blowing! It was really amazing to see them take over string duties and the arrangements were sublime... Even if you have seen Bjork on every other tour you have to hear the arrangements for Oceana, Joga, All is Full of Love, Bachlorette and Pleasure is all Mine. I think especially the Medulla songs really benefited from a horn section... May be Medulla is a jazz album in disguise?
The parts I didnt care for? Vokuro was oddly stuck between 2 high energy songs and seemed beautiful but out of place... and I really hated the Hyperballad->Pluto segue... To me hyperballad is so perfect with strings that it was hard to hear it completely obliterated... It reminded me of of the 1996 tour and the over the edge mix... and I really didnt care for it...
Otherwise it was another essential magical coachella performance...
Gracias Bjork!

/liquidray - 2641
I have to agree with many of the other posters: the Hyperballad remix was absolutely out of this world! For that matter, the entire performance was beyond my expectations (and I had very high expectations)! This was my first time seeing her live and, although I don't really have the $$ I am seriously considering flying to one of her other upcoming venues to see her again!!

/CaliGuy

/caliguy - 2640
I went to Coachella late and didn't really watch many other bands but Bjork made up for it 10 fold. That was the best performance of her's that I've seen. The Hyperballad remix was so freaking awesome. I was bouncing up and down and bumping into people and sweating like a maniac. I hope it is released on a single as a B-side. Declare Independence was the highlight of the performance. I cannot wait to see her when she comes to LA. I'm still convinced she will. Bravo bjork. Once again you have pleased me beyond belief.

/theethird - 2639
Each song was amazing. However, Declare Independance was totally out of this world with energy! First, but certainly not the lat time I'll see Björk...

/PatrickMoyle - 2638
Mindblowing! Especially "Army of Me" performance, & Hyperballad turned dance loop turned Pluto + Declare Independence encore. Man, I will not forget it!!!

/chaxxattack - 2637
I was part the experience last night. I have seen her before as well. She is the key to evolution! The only word that can come close to a description of this technologically furious performance is: DREAMS. DECLARE YOUR INDEPENDENCE!!!!!!!!!!

/chumi - 2636
Well, I have to use the word "amazing" like other reviewers! I can also use: fantastic, beautiful, wonderous, etc. etc. etc! I've seen Bjork once before in 2003 and I was again just floored at her voice. I get nervous for her - she's got so many powerful notes in every song, and I worry she's not going to be able to do it live! Of course, I am proved silly and wrong by Miss B as she belts out every note LONGER and LOUDER and even adds in new soaring vocals... she sounds so fabulous live. The beats were incredible, everyone was full of energy, the Icelandic girls happily playing back-up singers/brass gurus... the lasers flashing everywhere and Bjork springing about! My boyfriend was with me - he mostly came for DJ Shadow - but as soon as Bjork came on he was blown away - he used words like "Wow," "That was awesome," and occasional laughing expletives accompanied by head-shaking. At the end I said, "Honey, did you like it?" and he said, "That was the best live performance I've ever seen in my life." A new Bjork fan is born.

A wonderful show everyone! So much fun and "Hyper-Ballad" and "Declare Independence" were such a blast!!! And Bjork, you looked beautiful, like a tribal Snow White!
*swoons*

See you all in a couple of weeks, I'll be following her to RedRocks....
